Dr Mieczyslaw Jerzey "Mike" Bizon

After a two year battle with cancer, all of which he fought with pure class, strength, and dignity, he sadly lost his fight surrounded by his family on Sunday 10th May.

Mike grew up in Stoke-on-Trent and moved to the South West in his early 20s to pursue his studies, where he met and married his loving wife, and started a family.

Here he dedicated his taking career to care of the local community as the Senior Partner at Highbridge Medical Centre for 38 years, as well as 15 years as police surgeon covering the region. A real pillar of the community, Mike took pride in helping those in and around Highbridge and Burnham and really cared about his patients.

A true adventurer, Mike loved to travel and was lucky enough to have visited all over the world. A passion for adrenaline sports, he was an avid diver, snowboarder, cyclist, and windsurfer as well as gardening, photography, and more recently, exploring with his drones.

He leaves behind the love of his life Danusia. His two daughters, Annika and Francesca, son-in-law Dean, and his beloved grand-daughters Ella and Amelie whom he utterly adored. And his little buddy, Benji the dog.

A loving man with a kind gentle nature and a passion for life, who adored his family and for over 40 years was proud to look after the local community.

Mike, growing up, when it was time for us to leave home and go out into the big world, you led and showed the way. We, your kid brothers, followed. Thank you for the help you gave me in those early student years to find my feet. Rest in peace knowing that on both sides of eternity you have loving family.

Mr Stan Bizon

Dearest Mike, I walked in your footsteps for most of my early life. You made it easier and provided constant inspiration through the many interests you chose to explore and pursue and with which I tagged along at every opportunity. I rarely had to experience the hardships of going first, though you seemed to have the ability to take it all in your stride. So stride on, dear friend, into the many adventures which await you, and until our paths converge again on one joyous day which awaits us, the cherished memories of you, which I carry in my heart, will continue to inspire my journey and lighten any troubles I may encounter along the way.

Mr Henry Bizon

Very upset to read about the death of Dr Bizon. Together with the late Dr Trowell and Dr Clapham they were s our family doctors nearly all the time we have lived in Highbridge. Mike always gave us wonderful care over the years. An excellent GP. Heartfelt condolences to Danusia and the girls. Graham, Ruth, Matthew and Benjamin Powell

Dear Family, Dr. Bizon was my doctor when I was in my early thirties (I am now 70) and he looked after me when I started my teaching job in Bridgwater at the age of 33. I was suffering from stress as a single parent in a challenging job and my 14-year-old daughter had glandular fever. He signed us both off for a fortnight, which was so helpful. Later, after I met my second husband at the school I taught at, he looked after him through a gall bladder operation and polymyalgia rheumatica. He always had time for my husband as he was a keen cyclist and tried to keep fit. So sorry to hear of his death. Our thoughts are with you. Love and blessings, Angela Page-Symonds
